Alastair is a strategic public affairs specialist with private sector, parliamentary and non-government organisation experience. He is a national columnist specialising in Scottish and UK politics, devolution and applying history to contemporary policy contexts. He has a particular interest in the life of Winston Churchill.

His specialities include public affairs, public relations, policy research, political monitoring, devolution, Scottish and UK policy-making, feature writing, strategic communications, media relations, reputation management, digital engagement programmes, social media marketing, web design, community engagement and crisis communications.

He is a member of the CIPR and the PRCA.

An avid reader, he adores the Flashman Papers and Ian Fleming’s Bond books; has fallen in love with comics and model making and is writing his first play and book.

He lives in Edinburgh with his wife and travels to her native Macedonia whenever possible.
